Getting Started: Collaboration Overview
overview of collaboration
Messaging Framework
The core of collaboration in Proceve is built on a robust messaging framework. It has been designed to handle a vast number of topics and messages. The software supports millions to billions of messages per second depending on hardware.
Security Capabilities
- Rich security features for controlling access to messaging properties, topics, channels, etc.
- Fine degree of control over who can access and manage different parts of the messaging system.
Scalability and Flexibility
- Highly scalable, tested with over 10 billion topics.
- Can handle massive message volumes.
- Flexible configuration for different messaging needs.
Chat Integrations
Our messaging framework supplies the integrated chat functionality in our software. Proceve supports collaborative work on diagrams, drawings, white boarding, and other shared activities.
Channel Management
Hierarchical Structure
Like most of our software, channels can be organized hierarchically, with sub-channels and further nested sub-channels. There is no theoretical limit to the number of channels or depth of sub-channels.
Channel Properties
- Each channel has a set of authorized users. (Direct message vs general company chat)
- Channels can host multiple conversations.
- Channels can be associated with categories, such as user interface discussions, accounting, marketing campaigns, etc.
Conversation Management
Conversation Properties
- Conversations are collections of messages within channels.
- Messages are tracked in the context of conversations, including details on who replied to whom.
- Conversations can cover multiple subjects within a single thread, and they can be associated with specific topics as well.
User Permissions
Conversations within a channel can have different permission sets from the channel itself. Specific conversations can be restricted to subsets of channel users.
For example, A large company can have 1,000 employees who have rights to a channel, but only 10 people can access a specific conversation within that channel.
Topic Management
Topic Structure
Aggregation of Topics
- Conversations or channels can aggregate messages from specific topics and their subtopics.
- Topics can be combined and managed in flexible ways.
For example, if a user wants to see all the messages that belong to topic I and the subtopics of I (J, K, L, M), they can create a channel that will aggregate all the messages and discussion from those topics.
